The Business Connection

All the latest business news from the North East

Hello Members,

More rain to come and the rivers and dams at high levels. So much suffering for so many people across Victoria and NSW and the Team & I extend our heartfelt best wishes to all those affected, wherever they may be, for a quick end to what they are going through. We cannot change the weather, but we can control how we react to setbacks. We all know what we have all been through over the past three years. Some of us have fared better than others and we should be grateful for that.

What we can also do is support our other local businesses as that is what a business community does. The modern term is “Circular Economy” but to break those words into simpler ones, it is Support Local, Shop Local. Support Local Shop Local - Albury Wodonga's Digital Plaza

This week’s Celebrate Business was a fantastic event where the 2023 Albury Wodonga Business Awards was launched.  The Panellists of previous winners provided great insights on how they came to be recognised for their outstanding business achievements and what the recognition of those achievements delivered for themselves and for their teams.

Look at your own business and determine what is outstanding about it, so that when entries open for the 2023 Awards in January, you ready to go. You know you have built something great, despite all the challenges, so don’t be humble, showcase it.

Finally, now that we are coming out of the non-trading periods that prevented businesses from selling face to face, Business Wodonga has made the decision to no longer offer our well received Christmas Hampers that benefitted many. To continue to support local product producers, Jedda Hindmarsh of That Little Place has opened a Pop Up store in Liverpool Lane where she will be selling hampers filled with local content for your clients, families, friends and maybe even yourself to enjoy. I encourage you all to Support Local Shop Local by purchasing from her so that the circular economy helps many.

As many of you are aware from the email yesterrday, the Leadership Team of Business Wodonga have called a Special General Meeting for November 10, 2022 to decide the future of the Wodonga Chamber of Commerce Inc trading as Business Wodonga.

Ahead of the meeting, a plea for funding is being made to the business community to determine as a whole, if it wants Business Wodonga to continue to play a part in the economic development of Wodonga. Unless sufficient additional funds are raised by November 3, 2022, a resolution will be put to the Members at the Special General Meeting to wind up the Association. Whilst longer term strategies are in-place to be viable going forward, our Leadership Team want to be certain that we can meet all obligations to our Members, Sponsors and other partners both now and into the future.

It is over to you, our Members and the wider business community and local government to decide if you value the work that we do and if so, to give us your support.  To be blunt, if you want to see Business Wodonga continue, we need your pledges of financial support now and the money in our bank account before November 3, 2022.

We look for support from those able to give.

Hi all,

Hope you have had a great week.  It's been awesome that we have been able to see the sun ... finally.

I've had a busy week.  It started on Sunday Night at the GoFashion Show.  What an amazing night, with such talented local designers.
Felicity from Albury Wodonga Business Woman walked the catwalk in a few different designs.  I was a proud Mum as my daughter also walked in a few different outfits also.
Was so lovely to see 'Locals supporting Locals'.

This is what we love to promote!
#strongerwodonga

I have spent the last couple of days out talking with members and new members.  Staffing is still a big issue that seems to affect many of you.  As I have mentioned to quite a few of you, keep a look out for our next Expo, that could help you all again,

This weeks Blog was inspired by woman at the fashion show.  I meet some incrediable woman, and know quite a few women who are leaders in their field.  I do hope you enjoy it.

Without members, Business Wodonga could not run and do the fabulous things that we do to support our business community.

Remember to join us if you are not a member.  You can just use the QR Code.
